According to our colleagues at the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS), four of their humanitarian responders have lost their lives during the hostilities of past 12 days while carrying out life-saving and humanitarian duties.
Vincent Cassard, Head of Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Iran, expressed his deep sorrow at the loss of the aid workers and stated: “On behalf of the ICRC, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and colleagues of the fallen aid workers. Our thoughts are with you. In times of armed conflict, humanitarian workers must be protected and be respected while performing their life-saving duties.”
Mr. Cassard further emphasized: “We remain in close and continuous contact with the Iranian Red Crescent Society to support their vital humanitarian efforts in the best possible way.”
