We are deeply distressed by the loss of Abolfazl Dehnavi, a volunteer with the Iranian Red Crescent Society, killed in an airstrike in Mobarakeh County, Isfahan, on 4 April.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to his loved ones, his colleagues and all those affected by this painful loss.
Since the start of the recent hostilities, four IRCS personnel have lost their lives while carrying out their vital humanitarian work.
On 3 April, the IRCS also shared that a relief warehouse and several vehicles in Bushehr province had been damaged. The cost the IRCS continues to pay is alarming.
Each of these losses weakens the support that communities desperately need.
Humanitarian personnel, premises and vehicles must be respected and protected.
We call on all parties to respect and ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
