Tehran (ICRC) – the ICRC has delivered more than 12,000 kilograms of medical aid to the Iranian Red Crescent Society in 2 stages.
“In line with its mission and to help replenish the first aid stocks that have been used during the recent escalation of Iran & Israel, the ICRC has delivered two shipments of medical supplies to the Iranian Red Crescent Society. This aid will cover the needs of 5 first aid stations for (primary) treatment of 29,000 injured,” said Vincent Cassard, head of the ICRC delegation in Iran.
He confirmed that other shipments will be delivered to the Iranian Red Crescent Society soon.
“The ICRC remains in close contact and dialogue with the Iranian Red Crescent Society to discuss how to work together to meet any raising humanitarian need,” Cassard added.
He praised the humanitarian operations of the Iranian Red Crescent volunteers and staff, during the recent escalation, who continued to provide vital assistance despite all the risks.
The ICRC is a neutral, impartial and independent organization whose mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. In Iran, the Committee works closely with the Iranian Red Crescent Society, its main partner in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
