The training course on “Management of Blast-Related Injuries” began on October 26, 2025, in the city of Abadan.

The program was inaugurated in the presence of General Bagherzadeh, Head of the Search and Recovery Committee of Missing Persons of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who attended as the Iranian team’s supervisor. The course is held in cooperation with officials from the Iraqi Ministry of Defense and brings together 26 field experts from both Iran and Iraq.

The aim of the course is to enhance the safety, preparedness, and technical skills of field teams involved in the search for missing persons, particularly in managing risks posed by explosive remnants of war in field operations.

Key topics covered in the workshop include first aid training, safety and security principles during field recovery missions, and management of injuries during search operations.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), as a neutral and humanitarian organization, provides technical and training support for search and recovery activities in former conflict areas. Through cooperation with national authorities, the ICRC contributes to improving safety standards, promoting humanitarian principles, and facilitating the exchange of expertise between search teams. The organization’s participation and support in conducting such courses underscore the humanitarian and international significance of search and recovery operations.

The workshop will continue till 30th of October, and participants will receive training certificates upon completion.
