On 15 June 2026, the ICRC delivered more than 18 metric tons of humanitarian supplies to the Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS).
The shipment includes medical items for first-aid response to both natural and man-made disasters, as well as various types of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) designed to protect humanitarian first responders during chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear incidents.
The consignment consists of both items donated by the ICRC and humanitarian supplies contributed by other members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, for which the ICRC provided logistical support and coordination.
The delivery took place during a donation ceremony held at the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s Rescue and Relief Organization (RARO).
Speaking at the ceremony, the IRCS Under Secretary General for International Affairs and International Humanitarian Law, Ms. Alishavandi, acknowledged the ICRC’s support during the recent escalation and stated that the donation would help strengthen the IRCS’s capacity to respond to humanitarian needs across the country.
Meanwhile, The Head of the IRCS Rescue and Relief Organization, Mr. Mahmoodi, welcomed the donation and highlighted the spirit of solidarity among members of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. He noted that such support reassures the IRCS and its staff and volunteers that they are not alone in carrying out their humanitarian mission.
Vincent Cassard, Head of the ICRC Delegation in Iran, praised the IRCS for its humanitarian response during the recent escalation. He stated: “This delivery is part of the ICRC’s continued support to its long-standing partner in Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society, and reflects the strong partnership between our two organizations in addressing humanitarian needs.” He added that additional humanitarian assistance and support for the IRCS are planned in the coming months.
The supplies delivered through this donation can be used in rescue, and relief operations and will contribute to replenishing emergency stocks that were utilized during the recent escalation.
As partners within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the ICRC and the Iranian Red Crescent Society have further strengthened and expanded their cooperation in the aftermath of the recent escalation. This latest shipment follows two humanitarian donations provided through this partnership, including the ICRC’s delivery of 176 metric tons of humanitarian assistance to the IRCS in April 2026. These contributions reflect a shared commitment to supporting humanitarian action in Iran, and additional support is expected to be delivered in the months ahead.
